El ROI

“She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.

‭‭Genesis 16:13‬

"El Roi" = ‘the God who sees me’ (the name of God that I've been meditating on this week)

"ROI" = return on investment

When we put our faith and trust in El Roi, the God who sees us, it is always profitable—without a doubt the MOST profitable return on investment (ROI) we could ever make.

It’s important to note that there are "limitations" when it comes to a financial ROI, as explained by Google AI:

“ROI does not account for the time period the investment was held, which can make it misleading for comparing long-term investments with different durations.”

A common misconception is that we will immediately see a "return on investment" when we put our faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ—however, this is not always the case. For some believers it takes months, years, even decades, before seeing a promise from God come to pass. It is very important that as Christ-followers, we do not sell or cash out our spiritual "shares" so quickly when faced with doubt or delay—but that we persevere and cling to our faith and confidence in the truth of God's Word.

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”  (Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭23‬)

“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.” (Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭11)‬

Even when faced with adversity and prolonged periods of waiting, training, or persecution, we have confidence in our eternal investment in Jesus because we know that His Word is true and will always come to pass. He sees us where we are and meets us in the midst of our circumstances—even moreso, He does not leave us there, but delivers us according to His good and perfect will.

In summary, let’s learn to trust in El Roi for a ROI that is guaranteed to pay dividends into eternity.

Financial Update

Fertilizer Crisis

A month ago, we covered the beef crisis that America was facing and why investing in farmland is becoming a favorable play; today, we continue to explore investment opportunities in that same sector: fertilizer.

Fertilizer breaks down into three main categories: nitrogen (derived from natural gas), phosphate (mined rock processed with sulfur), and potash (mined salt deposits). These are the building blocks that make modern agriculture possible.

The investment case right now is driven by necessity. Fertilizer prices are elevated and expected to stay that way through 2026. Phosphate prices jumped 36% in eight months, climbing from $583 to nearly $800 per ton. Farmers are paying more because they have no choice; if you're planting corn or wheat, you need nitrogen.

The price surge is driven by the fact that supply is incredibly concentrated. Just five countries control most phosphate production: China, Russia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the US. Canada, Russia, and Belarus account for over two-thirds of potash exports. When any player adjusts production or faces geopolitical issues, the whole market feels it.

China normally exports 8 to 10 million tons of phosphate annually. In 2025, they exported just 5 million tons and won't export until August. That's a significant supply gap hitting right when farmers need to buy for spring planting.

Then there's the Middle East situation. About 30-35% of the global fertilizer supply passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Recent tensions have sent fertilizer stocks soaring; CF Industries is up over 60% year-to-date. When supply routes get threatened, domestic producers benefit because they can sell at elevated prices without geopolitical risk.

The fallow ground of the poor would yield much food, but it is swept away through injustice.”

Proverbs 13:23

Energy costs matter too. Natural gas is the primary feedstock for nitrogen fertilizer. As LNG export capacity grows, production costs are rising, tightening global supply.

For those interested in investing, the main players, and potentially a great starting point for your research, are Nutrien (largest, with exposure to all three nutrients), CF Industries (pure nitrogen), and Mosaic (phosphate and potash). There are also smaller players like Intrepid Potash and fertilizer ETFs for broader exposure.

However, like every other industry, fertilizer stocks are cyclical. When crop prices drop, farmers cut back on application. There's also regulatory risk; the DOJ is investigating potential price-fixing. And geopolitical factors can flip quickly.

Investing in fertilizer means supporting the infrastructure that feeds the world. It's not flashy, but it's essential. As the fertilizer-to-crop price ratio hits historically poor levels for farmers, producers with access to low-cost inputs and strong distribution networks are positioned to capture significant margins.

Tech Update

What’s Real Anymore?

Nvidia just announced their latest game rendering technology (DLSS 5) for gaming developers.  Technically, they describe it as “a real-time neural rendering model that infuses pixels with photoreal lighting and materials.”  In simple terms it’s the blending of real-time image processing with the latest AI technology.  When you look at gaming with human characters they appear almost like real videos and less artificially created. Begging the question, what’s real anymore?

The trend of AI generated video content online continues to grow as we all know. As of early 2026, data from security agencies and SEO researchers suggest that between 50-90% of all online content—including video—is now either AI-generated or significantly AI-enhanced. It is estimated that about 20% of new uploaded YouTube videos were classified as AI generated, up to 42% for video shorts. TikTok has labeled more than 1.3 billion of the videos as AI generated.

AI is making for great entertainment, education and marketing, and even evangelism. As an example, I came across this humorous AI video on Jonah.

On the flip side has been the creation of deepfakes as we discussed in a past Solomon Circle article, including fake social media accounts and false content. Deepfakes has recently escalated in psychological warfare as Iran has been creating fabricated battlefield successes, including U.S. aircraft carriers sinking, Israeli cities in ruins, U.S. embassies and other buildings on fire. A collection of fake videos and reporting from Iran continues as documented in this news report.

I’m hoping a future version of my online security software will automatically tag content so I don’t have to guess what’s real or generated. In the meantime, let’s all be diligent when consuming online content especially where it leads to engagement and transactions.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
