God's Promise to Sustain, Carry and Rescue

Whether you have gray hairs, as I do, or not, I believe this verse contains God's promise for three vital stages of life's journey as a Christ follower.
We all go through these phases in life and can have assurance that God will always be there and be ready to help us.
Sustain - For when we are in motion and all is well
When we feel like things are going well in life and work, we need to remember that it is God who gives us the ability to live and work. We should also remember that every good and perfect gift comes from our Father above, as James 1:17 reminds us. God sustains us and blesses us so we can flow through those blessings to others, so remember to be generous as you are sustained.
Carry - For when we are struggling and need help
The thought that God promises to carry us is reassuring in times when we feel we can't make it anymore. I recall the famous footprints in the sand poem. It reminds us that when we see only one set of footprints, it’s because God is carrying us in His arms. What a powerful assurance of our loving God carrying us like a father carries his child. Pray and ask God to carry you in His arms if you are in this season of life.
Rescue - For when we are lost or in danger
Have you ever been in an utter state of despair? When it looks like everyone around you has abandoned you and God is nowhere around? I’m sure we all have felt so at some point in life. If you have been there in the past then look back and remember God's faithfulness and be assured He rescues us from our troubles. Just like He promised Joshua: “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5).
If you are in need of rescue now then remember He says: “Call unto Me and I will answer you” (Jeremiah 33:3). Don’t walk alone. You can share your prayer needs with this community or in private and we will pray for you.
Rest in God’s assurance that He will Sustain, Carry and Rescue you as needed!
Story of Challenge and Hope
Yu-jay's Journey of Faith

In a rural town in Liberia, West Africa, a young boy named Yu-jay learned life's most important lesson not from textbooks, but from the unwavering love of his solo mother.
Living in a modest one-bedroom apartment, about 8ft by 10ft, that cost just $7 a month, Yu-jay discovered that while material resources were scarce, love was abundant.
"Love is one of the most, if not the most important factor in life," Yu-jay reflects today, a truth rooted in those early years surrounded by his mother's devotion, bond with his little brother, and the support of family and close friends he calls his “village".
At age 10, Yu-jay gave his heart to Christ in Sunday school, a decision that would anchor him through some unimaginable storms ahead.
Soon after, his family's circumstances dramatically improved as his mother's entrepreneurial pursuits and work for the US embassy flourished. They went from poverty to prosperity—attending prestigious schools, enjoying assistants who managed cooking, cleaning, and driving his family around. Life seemed to have taken a permanent turn for the better.
But Liberia's civil war, that started in 1989, shattered their newfound security. In an instant, Yu-jay's family lost everything, plunging from life's highest peaks to its deepest valleys. They faced starvation, going weeks with little food, witnessing unspeakable cruelty and violence.
Yet through it all, Yu-jay says, they never lost hope in God. "One of the best things about that experience was not having anywhere to turn to but to God."
The defining moment came when soldiers dragged his family and friends from their home, forcing them to strip to their underwear in the streets while threatening to execute them. As terror surrounded them, Yu-jay's mother asked everyone to pray.
In what Yu-jay describes as an "outer body experience," he completely surrendered control to God, with verses from Proverbs flooding his mind. In that moment of absolute helplessness, he discovered absolute faith.
Following this crucible experience, Yu-jay immigrated to America, where new challenges awaited. Attending a prestigious Charlotte school where his classmates came from wealth, he once again found himself navigating unfamiliar territory.
But armed with resilience forged in war and faith tested by fire, Yu-jay persevered. He went on to attend Davidson College and MBA from UNC and eventually secured positions with major corporations like Coca-Cola and Bank of America.
Yu-jay's journey from a $7 apartment in Liberia to senior marketing manager roles in corporate America illustrates a profound biblical truth. As Proverbs 3:5-6 declares:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Through poverty and prosperity, war and peace, displacement and success, Yu-jay learned that surrendering to God's sovereignty—especially in our darkest moments—opens the door to His greatest blessings.

America’s Social Security - Reason for Optimism

For nearly a century, Social Security has been the cornerstone of American retirement.
Today, questions surrounding the trust fund’s solvency has been the center of discussions.
However, a closer look reveals that while adjustments will be necessary, the system remains far from collapse. In fact, with proper diligence and decisive action, Social Security can continue serving generations to come.
The Current Outlook
The 2025 Trustees Report projects that the combined Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) trust funds will be “depleted” around 2034.
However, “depletion” does not mean complete disappearance.
Even in that scenario, payroll tax income would still cover about 81% of scheduled benefits.
In other words, retirees will not suddenly be left without their Social Security income. The challenge is bridging the remaining gap so that promised benefits can be met in full.
Options That Strengthen the Fund
Just as any diligent individual considers multiple strategies to help solve a problem, lawmakers have various practical options available to reinforce Social Security.
Payroll Tax Adjustments
A gradual increase of roughly 3.6% over time could fully close the projected shortfall.Benefit Refinements
Small adjustments—such as raising the retirement age slightly or refining cost-of-living calculations—would preserve the system’s stability while still protecting those most vulnerable.Expanding the Tax Base
Raising or eliminating the income cap subject to payroll taxes would add immediate strength to the fund, impacting only higher-income earners.
Historically, this has proven to be a successful formula.
In the early 1980s, bipartisan reforms extended the program’s life for decades.
While times are certainly different from then, “history may not always repeat itself, but it often rhymes”, and with proper planning and guidance, this time may not be different.
In addition, the current Social Security model doesn’t take into account factors such as tariff income, which is projected to hit $1.3 trillion by the end of Trumps presidential term. Incrementally, we have the trickle down effect such as GDP growth and other net positive inflows generated by the result of effective tariff implementation unaccounted for.
Reason for Optimism
Time Remains: With nearly a decade before projected shortfalls, reforms can be introduced gradually, providing individuals and families time to prepare.
Public Support: Social Security is one of the most widely supported programs in the nation, with nearly 80% of Americans prioritizing its preservation.
Resilience Proven: The program has endured wars, recessions, and demographic shifts. Each adjustment has allowed it to remain a consistent foundation for retirees.
Looking Ahead
The path forward is not one of fear, but of preparation and wise stewardship. Just as investors calculate risk and solutions, lawmakers and citizens alike must evaluate the health of Social Security and take steps to ensure long-term stability.
With planning, discipline, and timely adjustments, the nation can safeguard this cornerstone program. It is less a question of whether Social Security will endure, but how we choose to fortify it for the next generation.
“For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?”
Preparation and foresight are marks of wisdom. Social Security is our nation’s tower of retirement security. By carefully counting the cost today, we can ensure its strength tomorrow—providing stability, dignity, and hope for those who depend on it.

Good Ole H2O (Water)

There are so many benefits of drinking water, yet the average person doesn't drink the recommended daily allowance. Men should drink at least 15.5 cups of fluids per day, and women at least 11.5 cups per day - this includes water from all beverages and foods (roughly 20% of daily fluid typically comes from foods we eat). If you are active or are exposed to hot climates, increasing the amount is also important.
Drinking water brings a wide range of health benefits for our body and mind. Such benefits includes:
Boosting energy and fighting fatigue
Improving cognitive functions
Supporting kidney/urinary health
Maintaining cardio vascular health
Lubricating joints and cushioning organs
These are just a few of the benefits. Drinking water is a very important part of maintaining our health, it’s great for our body system, and it helps prevent health issues.
SO DRINK UP! STAY HYDRATED!
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Tech Update
Government Digital ID Systems

During the recent COVID pandemic, countries, states and cities implemented various forms of government lockdowns, including some that tracked citizens for compliance. The concept of monitoring citizens digitally was nascent but seemed to accelerate since then.
Recent US Cyber Surveillance EOs
Right before leaving office, President Biden issued an Executive Order (EO) titled "Strengthening and Promoting Innovation in the Nation's Cybersecurity”. The intent was to encourage federal agencies to accept digital identity documents as verification for accessing federal benefits programs. Recently on June 6, 2025, President Trump issued a new EO to partially rescind some of the components in the original EO to limit what the federal government could implement.
While having a government issued digital ID sounds good on the surface, there are real concerns raised about government tracking, which could lead to a surveillance state, as found in many communist and socialist countries, like China.
Lessons from China
China has been implementing digital IDs for some time and recently announced their Cyberspace ID in July 2025, which they promote for protecting citizens and benefiting digital commerce. With it, the government collects biometric data and has the means to monitor all their citizens' online activity and digital accounts. For over 10 years now, China has already been implementing a social credit score system that rewards and punishes individuals for compliance to laws and social norms. It is powered by advanced analytics, blockchain and AI, to evaluate trustworthiness and monitor compliance.
Privacy Eliminated
Imagine the thought of every online search you make being monitored by the government, along with your comments on social media and private chats. Worse yet, is that information then becomes a tool to push you into compliance with what your government tells you is acceptable or not. Thank God, most of us in this community are not (yet) subject to this.
Inevitable Future Digital ID System
The book of Revelation paints a grim picture of the state of affairs when a one world government is established. Most now believe the ‘mark of the beast’ will be a digital ID system that will be implemented to control humans.
“It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.”
It should not come as a surprise that this technology is already available and was rolled out in limited phases during the Covid lockdowns. In Sweden, for example, you can have a microchip the size of a grain of rice implanted under your skin to store your ID, payment methods, and more.
Our Response as Christ Followers
I’m counting on being up in heaven prior to the tribulation period when the mark of the beast is implemented. I’m hoping to see y’all there also! So, while we have an escape plan, we have work to do. Jesus told us “the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few” (Matthew 9:37). We need to get about our Father’s business in addition to and of greater priority, than our day jobs. Let’s remember we are called to plant seeds and trust the Holy Spirit to draw all unto Jesus.
