The Way

There are six references in the book of Acts to Christ followers being described as adherents to ‘the Way’. Upon close examination of the historical context I learned that early Christianity was fundamentally a lifestyle rather than merely a set of beliefs.

‘The Way’ was used to describe the fact that early Christians were embodying Jesus’ way of living and teaching which set them apart as a counter cultural group of society. They stood out, not blended in.

Today, when the word ‘Christian’ is used, it is mostly in the context of a religious association to a church or belief system and not a lifestyle.

Which begs the question, have we departed from living ‘the Way’?

Ask yourself, does your lifestyle reflect a distinct tone that outsiders recognize as someone trying to live like Jesus? If not, let this devotion be a call to action to make it a goal of how you are going to live moving forward. At times you may get mocked and persecuted for being a Jesus follower. If so, celebrate because, “All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you.” (1 Thessalonians 1:5-6)

Yes, Jesus came to earth to set us free from our sins, but He also came to teach us how to live, act and function while on earth. Christianity should not be a label of identity, it should be a lifestyle. Let’s approach each day with the ambition to talk, walk and love like Jesus. Make it your goal to live ‘the Way’, modeled after Jesus who declared He was exclusively ‘the Way’:

Don’t Hold Back Tears

Did you know that tears contain a natural painkiller 6 times stronger than morphine?

Every time you cry, your body is not breaking down. It is self-medicating.

In 2006, researchers at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, discovered a molecule in human tears called leucine-enkephalin. It is an endogenous opioid. Your body manufactures it. It binds to the same receptors as morphine. It is six times more potent.

People who cry regularly have lower blood pressure, lower cortisol levels, and stronger immune function than those who suppress tears.

Dr. William Frey at the University of Minnesota, proved that emotional tears have a completely different chemical composition than reflex tears. When you cry while cutting an onion, the tears are mostly water. When you cry from grief, stress, or pain, the tears contain cortisol, adrenaline, prolactin, and leucine-enkephalin. Your body is literally flushing stress hormones out through your eyes and replacing them with its own painkiller. 

Men are told crying is weakness; women are told it is emotional instability; children are told to stop. An entire species trained to suppress the one biological mechanism designed to flush poison from the body and replace it with medicine.

You have a pharmacy behind your eyes. It activates automatically when you need it most, and it’s FREE, no prescription needed! For your entire life, you were told to shut it off. The next time your body tells you to cry, let it. It knows exactly what it is doing. 

God knew what He was doing when He created the human body, down to the last tear!

AI Tokens

You perhaps have been hearing a lot lately about the word ‘tokens’ being used in reference to AI. Even Federal Reserve Chair, Kevin Warsh, last week addressed the looming economic impact of AI tokens in his speech from the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium.

So what are AI tokens?

AI tokens are the fundamental units of text, code, or images that large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, Claude and others use to process and generate information. A token can be as short as a single character or as long as a word. When you prompt an AI chatbot, it breaks your input into tokens, processes them through its neural network, and outputs a sequence of tokens in response. It’s like a unit of currency for AI usage, providing a means for normalizing AI usage, spend and volume.

In 2026, while the price per token has dropped significantly (falling 67% year-on-year to an average of $6.07 per million tokens by Q1 2026), total token spending has soared. At the same time the volume of token consumption has soared growing at an annualized rate of 500–600%. Large businesses are now establishing budgets for token spend just like other aspects of IT spend. While AI usage is increasing productivity for businesses, they are having to manage how efficiently employees are spending AI tokens to achieve that efficiency, since various AI models and tools charge different rates for the tokens used.

At a personal and practical level, you may see tokens showing up as the ‘credits’ you get to spend monthly for the various AI tools you use or subscribe to. For example, GAB AI gives you 200 credits per month for free but you have to pay for additional credit bundles based on your usage. You don’t see directly how 1 credit translates into AI tokens, but on the back end of your query, it does.

Tokens are also embedded into the applications you use. I recently signed up for a subscription to the Logos App which is a powerful tool for studying the Bible, digging into the original language with rich concordance-like features. Within the App is a cool AI assist tool to ask Biblical questions and get a sound scriptural response not polluted by secular content. While a great tool, here again you get a limited number of tokens, masked as monthly ‘Ask’ credits to use.

It’s the way of the future so we need to adapt and use it wisely.

Why Electrical Transformers Are Becoming Critical Infrastructure

Every new home, factory, hospital, warehouse, or commercial development eventually needs to connect to the electrical grid. But between the power plant generating electricity and the building consuming, sits a piece of infrastructure most people rarely think about: the electrical transformer.

Transformers regulate voltage as electricity moves across the grid, allowing power to travel efficiently before being reduced to usable levels for homes and businesses. Without enough transformers, adding power generation alone cannot solve America’s growing electricity needs.

And right now, transformers are becoming a significant bottleneck.

In August 2026, the U.S. Department of Energy reported that electricity demand has been growing at nearly 3% annually since 2023, following almost two decades of relatively flat demand. Simultaneously, limited domestic manufacturing, dependence on imported components, and highly customized equipment have pushed lead times for some critical grid equipment to two years or longer.

The financial impact has been dramatic. According to the DOE, prices for some transformers have increased four to nine times over the past five years. Earlier DOE research also found that distribution transformer lead times increased from approximately 3–6 months in 2019 to 12–30 months by 2023.

Washington is now treating the shortage as a strategic issue. In August, the Department of Energy announced plans for a program worth up to $375 million to strengthen domestic manufacturing of distribution and power transformers, components, materials, and other critical grid equipment. The DOE says the initiative could reduce imports and lead times for critical components by as much as 10% while potentially lowering utility spending on essential equipment by up to 25%.

There is another unusual problem: standardization. The DOE has identified more than 80,000 different distribution transformer varieties used across the United States. Reducing unnecessary customization could allow manufacturers to produce equipment more efficiently and shorten delivery times.

Investors looking for exposure can research GE Vernova (GEV), whose Electrification division supplies transformers and other critical grid equipment. Its Electrification backlog reached approximately $42 billion in early 2026, up from just $9 billion in 2022. Eaton (ETN) offers broader exposure to electrical distribution and power-management equipment, while Hubbell (HUBB) supplies products used throughout utility transmission and distribution networks.

For diversified exposure, investors can also research the First Trust NASDAQ Clean Edge Smart Grid Infrastructure ETF (GRID) and Global X U.S. Infrastructure Development ETF (PAVE).

Transformers offer an important investing lesson: generating more electricity solves only half the problem. The power still has to reach the homes, factories, hospitals, and businesses that need it. As America expands and modernizes its electrical system, one of the grid’s least glamorous components may also become one of its most important.
